This novel-in-stories takes place in three locales: Pittsburgh, where Mags was born and spent her early years; Daytona Beach, where Mags lived with her family during her Junior High and High School years; and Atlanta, where Mags finally settled after moving around a lot as an adult.
The narrative voice of Mags matures throughout the book, which culminates in the life-changing calamity that provokes her to resign her tenured faculty position at Atlanta Tech and move back to Daytona Beach.
Settled in a loft apartment above a downtown toy store, Mags embarks on her new career as a full-time writer.
